Pistol I / CCW If you have little-to-no experience handling a firearm, are new to owning a pistol, are looking to purchase a handgun, or want a Concealed Carry Permit, this course is for you. Course Content: Basics/Fundamentals of Firearm Ownership & Operation Owning a firearm is a tremendous responsibility. We invite you into a non-intimidating environment to learn the fundamentals of firearm ownership, starting with safety. Firearms familiarity and skills training will help you feel confident, comfortable, and prepared to select your handgun and accessories. We teach you weapons awareness, ready positions, shooting fundamentals, the Colorado laws of concealed carry, and how to confidently and adequately handle your firearm. This Course Covers:

  • Accessories and gear you’ll need to get familiar with
    • Ear and eye protection
    • Holsters – inside the waistband or outside the waistband
    • Safe and/or vault
    • Cleaning kit
    • Range & defensive ammo
  • Handgun selection
    • To best meet your needs, we cove usage considerations like home defense, concealed carry, target shooting, and competition
  • Firearm fit
    • Grip, weight, how it feels when you point it
  • Firearms basics
    • Firearms Safety
    • Safe & responsible firearm ownership
    • Handgun types, operation, maintenance, and safe storage
    • Handgun ammunition types and firearm selection
    • Can you operate the gun you’ve selected? Can you load magazines and operate/load the firearm in a hurry, if needed?
    • Skills practice
  • Hands-on training
    • Students have the opportunity to shoot a firearm at the range
    • Practice grips and posture
    • Range etiquette: how to properly uncase a firearm at the firing line, how to properly hang targets, proper loading & unloading
    • Breathing techniques and taking your time with fundamentals

CCW: Concealed Carry Permit Looking to get your Colorado CCW? Building on firearms basics and fundamentals, this course covers all the essentials of Colorado State Law. We cover concealed handgun selection and a variety of carrying methods and correlating draw techniques for each method. You can obtain your certificate and permit after completing the final exam. Course Instructors Top-rated, certified instructors teach all Pilum firearms courses. Requirements No previous firearms experience is necessary for this course which includes classroom and range time. Once completed, it lays the groundwork for future training (Pistol II and III) and is a prerequisite to taking those courses.

In addition, he/she agree(s) to follow the rules of conduct set by Pilum Defense Agency. Failure to do so may result in suspension from participation. Consent: I the undersigned parent or guardian/participant do hereby grant authority to the staff at Pilum Defense Agency to render a judgement concerning medical assistance or hospital care in the event of an accident or illness during my absence. I do hereby authorize Pilum Defense Agency and its assigns to utilize any and all photographs, pictures or other likeness of me or anyone assigned guardianship to me, as they deem appropriate in its promotional materials or team films. COVID-19 SAFETY INFORMATION:

While participating in events held or sponsored by Pilum Defense Agency, LLC “social distancing” must be practiced and face coverings worn at all times to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19. Because COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is spread mainly from person-to-person contact, Pilum has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, Pilum cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, partners, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.

In light of the ongoing spread of COVID-19, individuals who fall within any of the categories below should not engage in Pilum events and/or other face to face fundraising activities. By attending a Pilum event, you certify that you do not fall into any of the following categories:

1. Individuals who currently or within the past fourteen (14) days have experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath among others;

2. Individuals who have traveled at any point in the past fourteen (14) days either internationally or to a community in the U.S. that has experienced or is experiencing sustained community spread of COVID-19; or

3. Individuals who believe that they may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by state or local public health authorities or the health care team responsible for their treatment.

All students will sign a COVID-19 Safety Acknowledgment — Liability Waiver and Release of Claims when attending the classroom instruction. Please wear a mask.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing (info@pilumdefense.com) or by phone at 303.306.4756. Student substitutions can be made at any time.

Cancellations received more than 72 hours prior to the class – Students will be eligible for a full refund or may transfer (moving the participant(s) to another class within a three-month period).

Cancellations received within the 24 to 72-hour window prior to the class – Students will not be eligible for a refund but will be eligible for a one-time class transfer (moving the participant(s) to another class within a three-month period), for $25 rescheduling fee.

Cancellations received less than 24 hours prior to the class or failure to attend the class -Students will not receive a refund, nor will they be eligible for a class transfer. This includes weather-related, last minute cancellations.
